Due to the popularity of our photography tips series, I am planning to extend the content related to the art of motorsport photography. The first of this new material will be a series of in-depth interviews with some of the outstanding contemporary photographers who cover the sport. While some of my experiences as an average snapper in the 1980′s may be relevant today, there has been a dramatic change to the techniques and practicalities of taking photographs brought about by the adoption of digital media. Hopefully, these interviews will provide a much better understanding of the art today, and you will find them as interesting to read, as I will asking the questions.
The interviews will cover the basics of equipment, techniques, logistics and planning, plus I hope to find out what are the influences on their work, how they got started, and what changes they expect to see in the future. I’m also going to try and find out what are their favourite circuits or events, some of the hassles that affect them during a shoot, and what incident or event has had the biggest influence on their career.
The first of these interviews is under way, and will feature one of the most popular and influential photographers of his generation. A multi-award winning artist, who’s distinctive work has been featured in publications world-wide, and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship to the Royal Photographic Society in recognition of his contribution to the art and science of photography in his chosen field.
It should be a fantastic insight, and not to be missed. Make sure you subscribe to our RSS feed to ensure you don’t!
Really looking forward to what you have in store Brendan, its always interesting to see how other people work and what other ways there are to skin a cat so to speak.
