In 1986, the first Birmingham SuperPrix was held. The circuit was drenched by torrential downpours from the tail end of Hurricane Charley. The chaotic race was stopped early due to an accident blocking the track. I have only just dried out…

Hi there, I just wanted to say That your post is interesting!
Marcel Tarres seems to have borrowed a helmet for qualifying (looks like Bernard Santal’s) and then Pascal Fabre’s spare for the race itself!
I am trying to work out where you took those photos particularly in which sessions so I can sort out the photos myself.
All I know that the extra acclimatisation session (which the rain started to pour down, giving drivers a chance to sample the wet circuit) you was at the Bristol Street Motors Bend as you took photos of Tarres’ spin that brought out the red flag.
I am sure you was at the BT Chicane (near the police station) during qualifying as we saw the lesser drivers such as Frey or Dacco who failed to qualify.
I noticed you got photos of Tim Davies’ spin at the Halfords Corner, which session was that? The acclimstisation or the actual race? Davies only last for about 2 laps into the race after a collision with Tarres.
I hope you can help me out, thanks!
@bigears I will have to look back through the old negs to see when the Tim Davies spin occurred chronologically, I’ll let you know
That day is a little fuzzy for me as I spent the night before with some old friends I hadn’t seen for years, and it was quite a late one…
Thank you for replying, it is not just Tim Davies but the rest of the photos if you can!
